How much longer will we accept mediocrity? How much longer should we wait before we call for something better? When will we break free from the restrictions of the mediocre, which we detest? Mediocrity is a jail, a trap that has the audacity to keep us on our knees. But if we dare to break free, if we dare to think critically and dream, it will turn around our country, our lives and our organisations.

We have endured a life of mediocrity for too long and have been engaged uncritically with the same humdrum messages every day. We’ve grown adapted to the mediocre, the subpar. We embrace with a grimace the bare minimum, the inadequate. We need to eradicate this burdensome yoke of mediocrity and raise the bar for us and the people that lead us.
Let us strive for greatness and excellence. Let us aim for something higher and demand accountability. Let us challenge ourselves to be the best we can be. Let us no longer with ease accept mediocrity. Let us embrace our full potential.

Lastly, I am reminded by the Mexican revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata who said: ‘BETTER to die on your feet than live on your knees’
