You have skills, and no one can steal it away from you. Let me explain. People might want to steal your dignity, your reputation, your job, but they can never steal your skills. Your skills have two components, namely; knowledge and ability. In other words, you know things and you know how to do things.
With these skills in hand, combined with hard and smart work, you are far better than you think you are. It’s important to gain self-awareness of these skills and learn how to utilise the power of these skills for your own good and freedom. Not only freedom to do what you want, but freedom from uncertainty and anxiety. That is empowering. It’s your super power. Don’t underestimate yourself, because underestimation brings a timid mindset.
Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, said in his autobiography; A LIFE OF FLIGHT, we need to choose courage over timidity. I suggest this fascinating book. It is a fantastic read.
I know of an individual who is accomplished in everything ecommerce. He lost his job through shameful and dubious circumstances brought on by certain people in the company. His role was pivotal to the success of the ecommerce venture of the company. He, however, knew things and could do things with his ecommerce knowledge.
He was, of course, depressed and disappointed at the people who were responsible for his ‘downfall.’ However, after some calm thought and critical thinking, he realised that the skills he had were in enormous demand. He decided, instead of looking for a new job, to start, with his skills in hand, his own ecommerce consultancy. Combined with smart and hard work, he built a superb ecommerce company. The rest is history.
Best,
Marcus
