in the midst of the rush, I looked and saw
he mountains that lay afar beautiful
i saw the field share its yield of colour
my mind was calm in the moment of splendour
no interruption, no madness, just gladness in a moment
i long for the time of quiet reflection with anticipation
with the wind in my hair, sun on my face
i know this is the place
for simpler times I yearn, always
no superstructure to navigate no call to take
just a simple thought with no hate
this is the simplicity I rate
no news to screw me round
i love the peace that I found
i can’t be reached by no arm
no one can do me harm
i sit and ponder the wonder of nature
the calmness it brings is surely fine
it is like wine, food and surely good
lest I forget that this is the place of simpler times
