You will always resist to reach your goals when the motive to turn you away from it is stronger than which draws you to it. For example, your goal is to be financially secure, but your resistance to things like hard work and smart work is stronger. If you prefer to just mess around, then that is a stronger motivator than hard and smart work. What motivates you NOT to reach your goals is why you don’t reach your goals. Your motivator of choice is your preference.

Here is another example, your goal is to become a calmer and clear-thinking person. Yet the stronger motivator in your life which draws you away from the goal is your perpetual love of gossip, negative influence, anger, retribution. These things help you resist reaching the goal you desire.

I think at this point you get my drift.
